Hm, judging by replies I'm doin' it wrong. :P i taught myself how to type too but maybe I misread the instructions in the book. I definitely use the caps lock more; before I learnt to type I used the shift key more.

Yeah, maybe with touchscreens we won't find keyboarding skills that necessary? But it'd be really useful even in the future.
