so you were never a saint, Q, Skyfall (James Bond), by paperclipbitch

all you need to make a movie is a gun and a girl, Q, Skyfall (James Bond), by postcardmystery

Watched Skyfall. Liked Q; very cute. I did think: Macau is not like that! Well, unless you're in some really last-century Orientalism kick. The komodo dragons provided the clue: yes, it is maybe possible* to find that kind of pathetic-looking gambling den in the Far East, but sad to say, even if it is these kinds of places come under the description "really cheesy and pathetic tourist trap". No self-respecting gambler or mafia would operate in a place like this. Most thugs are either in grimy, smoke-filled gambling dens or slick, brightly-lit hells. ETA: Well, according to HK shows about Macau anyway.

I guess this really just underscores the caricature in James Bond movies.

Villian of the week was pretty good, appropriately whiny, has a bee in his bonnet the size of a train, and he must have mind-controlled his followers somehow; would a normal, out-for-money thug really work for him?

Didn't like the ending, what with all the explosions when Thornfield the creepy house went up in flames. (Western movies suffer from lack of imagination when it comes to destroying stuff.) It was amusing to see James Bond's ancestral home, but the concept reminds me of Snape Manor. Y'know, when everyone used to think Snape was some sort of pure-blood nobility and gave him big honkin' estates in fics? Also, ending was pathetic.
