And I think they were under pressure to make a crowd pleaser, so they just slapped on some typical personality traits without considering how you're supposed to get a convincing, menacing villain. I mean, sure I could see a child of Han Solo and Princess Leia turning evil, but I'd have expected that child to be way more creative about doing so.
