Yuletide 2024, letter to author

Updated (finally):
Dear Yuletide author,
Thank you for writing a fic for me. I'm very sorry that this letter is late; I have been distracted. But my appreciation for fics is no less fervent, and here are my thoughts.
DNWs: No coffeeshop fics, no spin-the-bottle or drinking truth-or-dare scenes. If there will be explicit or violent scenes (I can't imagine why), they need to be plot-necessary and character-driven.
Other than that, please feel free to write as your inspiration leads you.
Request 1: Hikaru no Go
Characters: Hikaru, Akira, Waya
Frankly, I'm a bit shocked that Hikago is in Yuletide because I'd thought the number of fics was large enough. But I'm happy about it anyway because even though I've not been involved in it much over the years, Hikago remains close to my heart.
It's tempting to say: write anything! But there are a few ideas floating in my mind. One is that, seeing that it's been many years since the end of the manga/anime, by now Hikaru and Akira and Waya are nearing middle-age (if not already there) and have now collected a slew of titles, not to mention facing competition from young challengers coming up. It's either a time for retrospection, even retirement, or a time like no other to declare, to hell with it, here is my plan for turning the Go world upside down! Tear down the differences between pros and amateurs! Establish an AI tournament! Or maybe declare farewell to Go forever, seeking new challenges! Someone might decide to open a ramen restaurant, and it might not even be Hikaru ^_^;
Or it could be a depressing time for all, as the Go world in Japan becomes less vigorous, despite Hikaru and Akira's best efforts. AI has discouraged Go players from following the path, since no humans can defeat a computer program. But deep (somewhere), a machine is following the ghost of Sai...
Request 2: The Imperial Coronor
Characters: Xiao Jinyu, Xiao Jinli
There just weren't enough scenes between the brothers in the series. Now that we know each brother's birthrights, what do they think about it all? Xiao Jinli seems like the kind to simply accept Xiao Jinyu as a true brother without need to consider their actual blood-relationship (or lack thereof) but Xiao Jinyu seems the more finicky sort. Being men, they do not confront it out until a catalyst of some sort: Xiao Jinli's own romantic troubles? Or maybe, Xiao Jinyu's impending fatherhood? A crisis at court or at the border, forcing certain rumours to be re-ignited? Whatever it is, it would be fascinating to look at each brother's approach about their place in the world, and how enough wine solves the problem of having to talk about feelings.
Request 3: Goblin
Characters: Eun Tak, Kim Shin, Sunny
Kim Shin's relationships with his sister evolves with her every incarnation: his 'ugly' sister, then his desperate happiness at finding her as Sunny, and his quiet satisfaction at her reunion with Wang Yeo. I would love a fic that is maybe less plotful, but has more scenes of him with Sunny, when she was already a grown woman with her own thoughts (rather than as a young girl who became a young queen). Similarly, while Eun Tak and Sunny were close, there's no saying how they would get along in the next incarnation. It would be fun to have a scene where Eun Tak (in her new incarnation) inadvertently refers to Kim Shin as her brother, and the movie star realises that instead of a new admirer, she has a (ugh! annoying!) big brother.
Request 4: Mysterious Lotus Casebook
Characters: Li Lianhua, Fang Duobing, Di Feisheng
To my mind, the best part of MLC is when all three of them get together to solve mysteries. Without the angst of Li Lianhua's poison (or Di Feisheng's), with slightly naive but still very intelligent Fang Duobing, and Di Feisheng's grumpy but interested involvement, they make a formidable team. Yes, if possible, I would love to have a casefic. It can be a serious case, or a lighthearted one where they get to earn either a big reward (or steal it away from undeserving ruffians), but at some point they spend the night in the Li Lianhua's caravan (?) and in the middle of the night, nearly scare one another to death because they were sneaking around each other. Bonus for Hulijing's involvement. Accidental-on-purpose pointing of swords, even Li Lianhua's inadvertent revealing his sword skill (and helpfully covered up by Di Feisheng) would be very welcome too.
