Sep. 26th, 2009 10:28 amYesterday evening was slightly surreal for the fact that I was at farewell party for my ex-boss (who's emigrating) and we ended up drinking with students who discussed such views as "Hatoyama is an alien" (I'm especially amused by this part) and "how do you play this drinking game again?" I'm sorely reminded of the reason why I haven't imbibed alcohol for years: I'm a total lightweight, and get a headache just from the fumes.

fen_at_sea, but am not sure if it suits: Is Hokkien my mother tongue?, on the connection between Chinese languages and Malay, by Alfian Sa’at. I'm chagrined that I've never thought about the origins of the word 'durian' before in my life.
