Part of my local newspaper's Q&A on Zika:
Q: What can a pregnant woman do if she has Zika?
A: Her doctor will monitor the development of the baby. If it is confirmed to have a major defect, and it is within 24 weeks of conception, abortion is a choice.
That. Is. Well, they said what most people would be thinking, even if it was for a brief moment.

1. Why did you sign up for DreamWidth?
*shrugs* It was something that just came up and some people at lj were moving, so I did? I was a little paranoid about lj starting to suck. Plus I think there had been some major wank and entertaining as that might have been, it was also a bit disturbing.
2. Why did you choose your journal name?
It's my lj name, only with my RL initials rather than a number.
3. Do you crosspost? Why or why not?
Yup. Why not?
4. What do you do online when you’re not on DW?
I follow cfensi, AO3, and watch k-dramas.
5. How about when you’re not on the computer?
Sleep, knit, work, household chores... all the other stuff?
6. What do you wish people who read your journal knew about you?
That I'm secretly awesome? That I'm not as prone to making a fool of myself as my journal seems to indicate? That I end every statement with a question mark? Who knows?
7. What is your favorite community on DreamWidth?
Fics.
8. What community do you wish was more active?
Any variety of Hikaru no Go fic community.
9. Are there two people on your reading list that you think should meet?
Should?
10. Tell me about your default icon.
Also the same icon on my lj, which by now means I've had the same icon for more than 10 years. It's a clipping from William Morris's wallpaper designs, Strawberry Thief.
11. What features do you think DreamWidth should have that it doesn’t currently?
Infusing its users aka me with the magical ability to (1) update more frequently and (2) comment more.
12. What do you consider the five most "telling" interests from the list on your profile?
Guqin. I started learning it... wow, seven years ago. And though I lack practice like whoa, just playing reaches something inside me.
Knitting.
Secular humanism. Nah, actually I listed that so I'd have an excuse not to talk about religion, because apparently that's what some people do? I read it somewhere. Because while I am vaguely interested in religion, it is purely as an intellectual thing and you can't make me believe anything, not even atheism. I mean, theoretically I am atheistic in that it's my form of intellectual laziness (there is no creator/god! end of discussion, let's get ice cream) but frankly I am not interested in discussing my feelings about the unexplainable (what is the meaning of life? why do good things happen to evil people? do you really want to go to heaven?) though I get very antsy when people try to religion me.
Erhu. It's my big guilt-trip actually. I haven't played in years. All part of the great list of things I ought to have continued to do, like macrame (yes, really) but I haven't.
Margaret Mahy. Or maybe it should be Dreams of Red Chamber, it's more pretentious that way. Yup.
13. Do you have any unique interests on your user profile? What are they? How’d they get there?
Did I not just answer this?
14. Did you have a gateway fandom? Still in it? Why or why not? Is there a community for it on DW?
Tokyo Babylon. At first it was angsty and mysterious like whoa, which suited me just fine. Now I just find it hilarious. Is there a community for it at DW? I'm only following
leareth's fics.
15. What is your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?
Pokemon Go...? It doesn't capture my imagination, it's just a very welcome de-stresser at the end of the day.
16. What are you glad you did but haven’t really had a chance to post about?
I read a book! Books! LaRosa, Louise Erdrich. One Child: the story of China's most radical experiment, by Mei Fong. And currently reading a really fascinating The Queen v Louis Riel which contains the transcripts for the trial of Louis Riel. And because I'm secretly a geek for trial transcripts.
I went to Botanic Gardens to catch Pokemon with a friend and walked through bits of the park that were pitch-dark but we didn't care. I loved it that I had a chance to walk through pitch-dark paths and nothing weird (this is the seventh month, after all) or dangerous happened (they did pave the park properly).
17. How many people on your reading list do you know IRL?
2...3...4, 5?
18. What don’t you talk about here, either because it’s too personal or because you don’t have the energy?
Yes.
19. Any questions from the audience?
I don't understand this question.
20. Yes, but what are your thoughts on yaoi?
Do they still call it yaoi or BL?
21. What’s your favorite thing about DreamWidth?
It's part of my life.
