In one sense, I'm happy that it ended, and ended on a (mostly) satisfying note. Also, selfishly, no more nail-biting trepidation about the ending, and staying up every Tuesday and Wednesday to watch it. On the other hand,

1. It's a strangely good ending to see Tang Yi walking into... prison? Because otherwise it'd forever niggle at me that there are no consequences for what he did. I mean, the alternative is to frame the police and criminal justice system as so hopelessly corrupt that Tang Yi bribed/extorted/threatened/lied his way out of it. I mean, I can hope that his sentence isn't too long (because I want the lovebirds together) but that ending felt right.

2. WTF Chen Wen Hao killed himself?! This is, what, clearing the board so that there're no complications? Or that CWH was so heartbroken by the truth about his ex-girlfriend and his surprise!son that he'd seen no other way out? I mean, even just for sentimental reasons, wouldn't he want to continue to see Tang Yi being alive and well? I just didn't see it coming, and I resent the fact that a fantastic villain died just like that.

3. Jack and Zhao Zi... surprisingly fast development? That stunt of Jack carrying Zhao Zi over his shoulder echoes Secret Garden's Oskar, who did the same to Lee Jong-suk's character. The m/m vibes were there in SG too, so I guess that's why it resonates.

4. Okay, we get a modified bed scene for Jack and Zhao Zi. Honestly, I could do without the coy grab-each-other-under the blanket arrangement. It was irritating when heterosexual couples did it, and it's still irritating when a gay couple does it. I know it's done like this because it's TV, not porn, but I'd rather they faded to black.

5. Similar frame of thought for Shao Fei and Tang Yi, who were still modestly wearing their boxers while making out. I'd really they faded to black, because the intimacy of their talk together just a few moment earlier was lovely (and sexy), and the making out rather disrupted the mood.

6. Oh for more of Zuo Hong Ye! Loved how she just takes it that Tang Yi and Shao Fei are together but still can't resist needling Shao Fei. Wanted to see how she deals with Tang Yi being the son of Chen Wen Hao and Li Zhen (because Tang Yi would definitely have told her, right?) I want a scene where Tang Yi tells her how he felt at Chen Wen Hao's death (that he couldn't even tell Shao Fei) and they comfort each other.

7. Am I the only one who wanted more concrete explanation of what happened with (a) Xing Tian Meng's business, especially while Tang Yi was imprisoned; (b) what is Jack doing and how come he never gets beat up for being a snitch; (c) what happened with Chen Wen Hao's business? Even a throwaway line like how his next-in-command grabbed power would help; (d) what happened with Captain Shi and the Ah Zhi? and (e) I imagine 'boring' stuff like Tang Yi being charged, standing trial, being out on bail all took place off camera (so as to speak) but what was Tang Yi charged with? Gang activity? Possession of a gun? Firing a gun (even by accident) and injuring another person? Beating up Ah Zhi?

What fanfic is for, I guess.

Heh, yes, same. Waiting for subtitles twice a week was a new and quite an irritating experience. I haven’t needed subtitles for a long time. Why did I got involved in Asian dramas fandoms? ;)

I mean, I can hope that his sentence isn't too long (because I want the lovebirds together) but that ending felt right.

I agree. I think it’s a right ending for Tang Yi, too. He was a gangster and he committed crimes. And since the show doesn’t tell us how long his sentence is you can imagine it was as short as you want. :)

Am I the only one who wanted more concrete explanation of what happened

You are definitely not the only one. I want answers to all those questions, too. But especially to two of them: what was Tang Yi charged with? And everything concerning Jack – what was he doing exactly? Did he join Xing Tian Meng just to spy on them for Interpol? Was Chen Wen Hao the target from the beginning and joining Xing Tang Meng was just a way to get to him through Tang Yi? I want to know. I don’t miss the nervous waiting every week, but I wish the show had at least a few more episodes. I just hope there will be fanfic and a lot of it. :D
