Take 1: Um, I was going to post for winter solstice, so... happy belated solstice?

Take 2: I was going to wish everybody merry Christmas, except I didn't, so... happy post-Boxing Day?

Take 3: Definitely must succeed in posting this time because I got Yuletide fics! Two! Both are Tokyo Babylon/X fics, which is equal parts squee and nostalgia. Ahhh, Subaru, never change. Or change, which is what I wrote in my letter to Santa Yuletide author.

The thing is, TB/X, especially that corner of that universe devoted to Subaru, is so angsty and tragic that it ties you up in knots if you think too much about it. The first one, Stomp the Butterfly's Wings to Dust, does a particularly good job of that, while After the Storm is a little more outward-looking. But still no less angsty. Thank you, authors, for writing those for me!

It's been a quiet time for me, but it was still delightful to have two Yuletide fics written for me. Whoever you are, thank you so much!

A Changeover crossover with Harry Potter is always welcome, especially for this glimpse of Sorry, who is like a breath of fresh air in the Wizarding World: Sealed in a Stone-Cold Tome by (ETA) Aishuu. Thank you, you are a marvel. I thought some of the turns of phrases seemed familiar!!! <3

and

nothing could be better than scenes of married life between Prunella and Zacharias in this Sorcerer to the Crown fic: Mr Gentleman's School for Magically Gifted Children by (ETA) tantamoqwrites. Thank you so much for writing this!

Dear Author

Thank you for offering to write a fic for one of my chosen fandoms! I'm very grateful, and I hope you have fun writing it.

The only types of fics that I do not feel comfortable reading are those that contain way too explicit sex or violence or violence for the sake of violence. However, it really depends on what the narrative/characters warrant so I don't really want to put in a blanket no-no.

These are just some of my thoughts about what I'd love to read, but please don't think of them as any sort of restrictions.

This time I've requested for fics in Tokyo Crazy Paradise, The Changeover, Journey to the West and Uzumaki.

I love gen fics and while I do like romantic fics, I usually prefer romantic fics where the couple is established and they are trying to know each other better. But gen fics that explore the world that the characters are in, and the different relationships that result with the people around them, are what really makes me excited.

I'm not keen on explicit sex scenes and non-con themes are a definite no. (Although given the fandoms I've requested, reference to underage sex is perhaps inevitable. So I'm prepared for that. More under the cut.)

Already the second day of the new year. Well, well, well. Happy New Year!

Got a couple of late Christmas cards in the mail, which ironically jolted me from my recent bout of moodiness. One was from an old professor who had a heart attack in the middle of last year, had surgery, therapy, more surgery, and thankfully has recovered well enough to go back to work this year. The other was a friend from Fukushima who said they're recovering and all is fine, only that her child can't play outside and they can't grow vegetables because of radiation.

Sometimes I'm incredibly stupid and self-centered. Here I am, moping about myself when I should be facing the world with spirit, as others are doing. I will do better. Not a new year resolution, but a promise to myself: For 2012 (and after), I will do what I enjoy, and enjoy what I do. Otherwise I'm just letting myself down.

Best wishes for 2012, everyone! Be of good spirit, treat others kindly, and keep hanging in there no matter how tough things get (things'll either get better or you'll develop the muscle to deal). <3

Hope everyone had a good holiday! I went to a friend's party which turned out to be full of boring networking types. I played with the kids instead and ate their chocolate.
